1 (35 ounce) can Italian tomatoes 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste 1 bay leaf 1 tsp. oregano 1 1/2 teaspoons basil 1 large clove garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/2 peeled carrot 2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
Combine all ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a simmer, then simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Remove and discard carrot.
Makes 4 cups.
