Wassail

6 sticks cinnamon
16 whole cloves
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 cups cranberry juice
1 large or 2 small cans frozen apple
juice concentrate, diluted (6 cups)
1 teaspoon bitters
1/4 cup rum (optional)

Tie spices together in a cloth bag. Combine sugar, juices and bitters. Simmer together 10 minutes and remove spice bag. Serve hot.

Serves 8.

You may add rum before serving.

This can be made for a large group in a 30-cup electric percolator with the spices placed in the basket. Use the same amount of spices and multiply the recipe times four.
